CatholicFaith Chat

Hail, Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee.  Blessed art thou amongst women and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus.  Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death.  â€“Amen

CatholicFaith (IRC Channel)

In Principio (In the beginning)

IRC (Internet Relay Chat) was one of the ways that we communicated using the internet, in the beginning. It allowed for many people to chat with each other via servers that were set up (typically) by colleges and universities. The system did not allow for monetization, since at the time of it's creation monetizing the internet was not the prime function of the internet. Today people are enticed away from simple systems like IRC by systems that offer a simpler interface to use, with graphics. It is unfortunate however that this also allows for the collection of data that pertains to the operators actions, but not actually to their interest. I am aware that it is hard to go back to simpler, better ways.

HTML and scripting code is not my strong point, I have a preference for hardware design. I operate several servers located about the globe and I am aware of how often hackers try to break into systems by exploiting the holes in programs that are designed to make coding HTML simpler. I don't access my sites often enough to see if they are hacked, so using software to make things simpler just make it more dangerous to employ. My sites are plain CSS, and if they have any coding it is done in non-traditional languages. (Security via obscurity.) I do not use cookies (unless I ask your permission), and if I do ask it will be an anonymized token that allows me to store details that have to do with your browsing preferences.
